Amy took a knee next to the lab table to get a better view of the action on the floor. She was careful to not place her flip-flop clad foot too close to her friends for fear she would hurt them. Dr. Tanaka's private demonstration of her 'molecular condenser' ray had gone horribly wrong: the ray had short-circuited and gone out of control, zapping the Dr. and Amy's friends Vanessa and Cassie and leaving them the size of dolls. Tanaka worked at rearranging the wiring of the gun - which was a big as her - while the two small students stood by, Vanessa curiously scratching her head, Cassie impatiently folding her arms across her chest. Suddenly, an exposed wire sparks, causing the ray to fire a wide, pale green beam at the waiting students. Amy and Tanaka look on in shock as the shrunken girls dwindle from small to tiny size (denoted by stacked silhouettes); Vanessa and Cassie's expressions have not changed - they don't yet seem to realize what's happening to them...
